Welcome to the Brand Tripping blog, where I explore topics about hospitality, travel, public relations and strategic communications.
During my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working for leading hotel brands such as the Four Seasons and The Ritz-Carlton.
Through my hotel experience I discovered a passion for customer service and the best practices that hospitality thought leaders use in shaping and influencing the industry.
My hospitality career began after graduating from Saint Meinrad College Seminary in Southern Indiana. The school was run by Benedictine monks. Possibly, this was a foreshadowing – since the Benedictines are known for their generous hospitality.
The first hotel job was at the front desk of The Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. Then later, I worked at Four Seasons and The Ritz-Carlton in Palm Beach, Florida (which is also the area of the state I grew up in).
One thing led to another – and I switched gears professionally when hired as the communications manager at Discover The Palm Beaches, the county’s destination marketing organization.
From there, I went on to join the destination marketing team at VISIT FLORIDA, where I serve Florida’s tourism industry through my work in public relations.
The ever-evolving and integrated work of communications is something that continues to spark my imagination and challenges me. Whether it is working in a crisis management situation, working with media, or planning a creative PR program to support a marketing plan, I’ve discovered that the learning and the opportunities to grow never stop.
Eventually, and most importantly, I met my husband Jay through the travel industry. We live with three cats in Tallahassee. We enjoy exploring the National Parks when we travel and visiting bakeries and coffee shops (locally or out-of-town) in search of delicious cake. Most Sundays you will find us serving as vergers at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
We’re also members of the Capital Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association.
